On our second full day on the island of Hydra, we have the opportunity to saddle up on horses and accompany a local Hydriot high above town to the beautiful Agios Nikolaos Orthodox convent. There, we will marvel at the sweeping views and meet the elderly nun (her schedule permitting) who has lived there for decades. While much of this ride is a simple trail ride, there are multiple moments of quick ascent and descent that require a general level of balance and comfort on horseback. The total trip is around three hours, including a forty-five minute visit to the convent.
